International English Language Testing System

 

Course Information

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is widely recognised as the main language requirement for further and higher education. It is the chosen language test for many universities in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. It is also often required in application for migration to New Zealand. At present, an IELTS score of 6.0 is the required minimum entry-level score for undergraduate courses at universities and at institutes of technology in New Zealand.

 

Entry Requirements

Students can satisfy the Principal/Director of Studies of their proficiency in English language with a placement test at Intermediate level or above

 

Leads to

Diploma in Business, Management (Level 5/6).

Fulfils language entry requirement to academic courses at institutes of technology or university.

A 12 week course is for students who are aiming for an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 - 6.5, in order to assist with entry to a university or institute of technology.

 

Course Content

A typical week includes coverage of the following skills:

Practice reading and writing tests
Reading practice and strategies
Speaking and conversational practice
Paraphrasing and summarizing information
Writing practice and strategies
Listening practice and strategies

Review of examination techniques

Note: Entry to University requires at least IELTS 6.0 - 6.5 (depends on course) or NCEA English Level 2, with 8 credits in Reading and Writing units standards.
